The Program

In the past ten years there has been a paradigm shift in addiction treatment from an "abstinence-only" approach to one that includes the perspective of harm reduction. Along with the shift has come a host of dilemmas and challenges that requires new techniques and solutions.
In this conference, clinicians who work in a variety of settings, both public and private, will describe how these challenges arise in their own work and the innovative techniques and approaches they use to address them.

Topics will include:
o client-centered treatment goals
o countertransference dilemmas
o impasses in treatment
o integrating harm reduction into the public sector
o integrating health psychology
o managing risk
o therapeutic communities
o treatment of co-occurring disorders
