We Need More Quality Workshops DATE: April 26, 2004 TO: Friends of NAMI California FROM: Grace McAndrews, Executive Director RE: NAMI California 2004 Annual Conference Workshop Proposals We have begun to put together the program for the 2004 Annual Conference, which will be held at the San Francisco Airport Marriott, Burlingame, on August 13 & 14, 2004. Our theme this year is "Changing Times, Changing Minds, - NOW!" We would very much like to have your input on possible workshop presentations. Please use the enclosed form to submit your proposal. We need to receive the completed forms back by May 7, 2004. We need time to review all proposals and begin inviting speakers. Do not miss the deadline, as late proposals will not be considered. Keep in mind that the more complete and detailed your proposal is, the easier it is to discuss in a program meeting. I recommend including an explanation as to why you think the particular topic or speakers will provide useful information that a conference attendee can share or replicate with their own affiliate's members. To avoid follow-up calls, please answer all the questions. Any proposal not completed or with insufficient information will be returned. This includes correct spelling of names, degrees, titles, addresses and telephone numbers of the workshop panelists. Much of the information we are requesting will be used in the program. The number of presenters must be limited to 3 - maximum of 4. This is in keeping with constructive feedback received in the past. We encourage you to include consumers as presenters. The length of workshops will be 1-1/2 hours. NAMI California does not pay honoraria, cover expenses of presenters, or reimburse for materials used in workshops. NAMI California family members also must pay the conference registration fee. Registration fees are waived and lunch will be provided for consumers on the day they present. Please submit supplementary information such as articles, speaker biographies, etc. along with the proposal. Please contact Zima Khanna at 916-567-0163 if you have any questions. Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.
