National Mental Health Consumer's Self-Help Teleconference NYAPRS Note: The following comes from the National Mental Health Consumers' Self-Help Clearinghouse, a consumer-run national technical assistance center serving the mental health consumer movement that helps connect individuals to self-help and advocacy resources, and offers expertise to self-help groups and other peer-run services for mental health consumers (http://www.mhselfhelp.org/). You are invited to participate in a free nation wide teleconference call to discuss how our program can best serve you Please consider donating an hour or two of your time to offer feedback on the future of the Clearinghouse. Call Date: Wednesday, June 9, 2004 Call Time: 3:00 PM EST Call Number: 1-800-830-7418 To access the call please dial (1-800-830-7418) five to ten minutes before the scheduled start of the teleconference. An automated attendant will ask for your name and then place you into the call. At the end of the speaker presentation you will be able to ask questions. You may submit your question by pressing 01 on your telephone keypad. You will enter a queue and be allowed to ask your question in the order in which it is received. On hearing the conference operator announce your name you may proceed with your question. Feedback on the following issues will help us the most in our framing of future activities: 1) What kinds of information do individual mental health consumers/survivors need to further recovery activities such as making recovery plans, conducting self-advocacy, performing self-care activities, and pursuing career goals? 2) What are the best ways for the Clearinghouse to get this information to individual consumers/survivors? By email, Web site, 800-line, or written publications? How should information be presented to make it most accessible and useable? 3) What kinds of information do consumer/survivor groups and organizations need to strengthen their programs and their overall organizational capacity? 4) What are the best ways for the Clearinghouse to get this information to organizations? 5) What are the particular information needs of various ethnic/cultural communities?
