| Bibliography of Experiences Gail A. Hornstein, Professor of Psychology at Mount Holyoke College, has compiled a large bibliography of first-person narratives of madness and the experience of treatment. She published an interesting article on the topic, highlighting the abuses people have received at the hands of "helpers" and a "treatment" system in the Chronicle Review (Chronicle of Higher Education) issue of January 25, 2002. It's entitled "Narratives of Madness, as Told from Within."
She is working on a book on the topic and is seeking to make additions to her nearly 300-item "Bibliography of Patient Narratives of Mental Illness." If you are interested in obtaining a copy of this bibliography, or in adding to it, you can contact: Gail A. Hornstein Professor of Psychology Mount Holyoke College South Hadley, MA 01075 USA |
