Children's Mental Health Site of the Month

 

 

 

 

Working with Families 

There will be an all day workshop with Rebecca Woolis, author of the very useful reference book:  When Someone You Love has a Mental Illness: A Handbook for Families .  This workship is intended for anyone faced with caring for someone with a mental illness, family members, NAMI members and professional care-givers. 

At the completion of the course attendees will:

bulletLearn of research regarding what families and consumers want and need and the impact of various interventions on relapse rate;
bulletLearn a new framework for working with families;
bulletUnderstand how to best provide families with support and consultation;
bulletKnow the necessary components of psycho educational programs for families;
bulletKnow how to provide families necessary knowledge about relapse prevention skills; and
bulletUnderstand the appropriate policies and procedures regarding interactions with families in agencies serving people with a dual diagnosis.
