MINUTES OF THE NAMI SANTA CRUZ COUNTY BOARD MEETING 06/9/03


In Attendance: Don Hilbert, Desire Douville, Judy Williams, Terri Sogoolou, Kim Powell

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1. Louise Loots remains out of the loop for the time being.
2. The Board is asked to submit votes for the national board.
3. Sharon Cohen Barry is also out of the loop for the time being.
4. Judy will have surgery 6/24.
5. Terri of MHRC wants to provide support for the mental health agencies within the County.
6. MHRC will try to offer a Journey of Hope class in August.
7. Target date for the next newsletter is 7/1/03

MOTIONS CARRIED:
1. Board accepts treasurer’s report as stand.

REPORTS"
1. Revolving Loan Program: Julie Conway has provided a draft application. Criteria: 1. Citizen, 2. SSI or SSDI, 3. diagnosis, 4. resident in the County, 5.l8 years or older..Determine how to advertise: press release.
1. Speakers’ meetings: Dan Weisburg, to talk about the Village or about Mental Health Court, perhaps in September. Don will approach a Dominican administrator as speaker in July.
2. Family to Family: Evaluations indicate a successful class.
3. Don will inquire of Yana Jacobs re. help in funding a possible venue.

NEW BUSINESS:
1. AB1424 would establish parent right to speak with hearing officers.
2. Judy proposes two fund-raisers, Albertson’s kick-back and Entertainment Book sales.
3. Suggest that NAMI provide Channel 25 with appropriate videos for Mental Health Week in October.
4. State Convention in Newport Beach September 5, 6.

1. Desiree: criteria to Richard @ Front Street.
2. Desire: Press release
3. Don: Dominican Hospital speaker for membership meeting end of July
4. Judy: Check with Melissa Viera on criteria
