Gift From Within

I wanted to let you know about Gift From Within's upcoming video called Recovering From Traumatic Events: The Healing Process.   We have also educational programs for trauma workers and caregivers.

Gift From Within

is a nonprofit organization dedicated to those who suffer post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), those at risk for PTSD, and those who care for traumatized individuals. Our philosophy is to rekindle hope and restore dignity to trauma survivors by offering educational materials, including videotapes, articles and books, and a roster of survivors who participate in an international network of peer support. We also have a  survivor poetry and art gallery.  Our advisory board consists of members of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.

This new video will be made available with closed captioned for our fellow
hearing impaired survivors
and the tape should be available September 1st.  A description is below and on our website at http://www.giftfromwithin.org/ under video descriptions and reviews.

Many of our members are sexual assault, rape and domestic violence survivors
but we help all kinds of trauma survivors.

Here is a synopsis of our upcoming video:

The participants: sexual assault and rape survivor who was taken hostage by
someone she knew,  a journalist taken prisoner of war and a near plane crash survivor. All compelling stories all offering on what helped and didn't help during the healing process.

Recovering From Traumatic Events: The Healing Process

This educational video will present recovered survivors and therapists
discussing their experiences with the healing process after traumatic events. This film will sensitively present insight into the impact of trauma in the survivor's life, however, the main focus of the film is on what helped or did not help them during their healing process.

Survivors of trauma often have difficulty believing that they will ever recover. This film provides a message of hope, but also first hand information on what was helpful to others in similar situations.

The video is useful to both therapists and survivors in guiding their recovery efforts in a positive direction. Family members and community will also learn how they can assist in the recovery of their friends, loved ones and neighbors. A ten minute version suitable for trainings and workshops is included in the professional version. All participants donated their time.

The six therapists featured are all members of the International Society of Traumatic Stress Studies.

Please feel free to check out our website.  Thank you.
