ATTEND AN ORIENTATION TRAINING  FOR PARTICIPATION OF BI-LINGUAL MENTAL HEALTH CONSUMERS AND FAMILY MEMBERS FOR ONSITE SPECIALTY MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

bullet(MANAGED CARE) REVIEWS

The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is currently recruiting for bi-lingual mental health consumers and family members to participate in Specialty Mental Health Services Reviews (Managed Care). DMH considers participation by consumers and family members to be an important part of our onsite review of county mental health programs and services. The experiences received from consumers and family members of adults and children are beneficial in adequately evaluating those services. To maximize the services provided to consumers and family members, we are particularly recruiting for consumers and family members who are fluent in both English and one of the following languages: Spanish, Vietnamese, Hmong, Cambodian, Cantonese, Mandarin, Armenian, Russian, Tagalog, Farsi, and Korean.

These assignments are limited contract positions which may involve some out-of-town travel and/or overnight stay. Those interested must be available for one week at a time as reviews may take from three to five days. The State will provide for travel and hotel accommodations when needed as well as reimbursement for meals in accordance with current State guidelines.

Participants will also receive $10.00 per hour as payment for work performed during the review process as well as during travel time, within reason as determined by the Team Coordinator, to and from the review site.

To maximize the benefits of consumer participation, training is offered which will assist the consumers and family members in understanding the review process and enhance their contributions to the review. Training is mandatory prior to participating in any reviews.

You must be approved to attend one of the below listed training sessions. Please call Wanda Wong, Division Consumer and Family Liaison, at (916) 653-9703 for an application. Applications must be returned to Ms. Wong no later than January 25, 2002. If approved, you will be admitted on a first come, first served basis as space is limited. It is imperative that applicants attend the entire training session to be eligible for participation in the reviews.
