"Recently Prozac and Seroxat (Paxil), the other market leader manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) have been the subject of high-profile legal cases after claims that people had gone berserk while taking them." - Times of London

The British Committee on Safety of Medicines (CSM) has taken steps to protect the public by requiring the manufacturers of SSRI antidepressants, such as Prozac, Paxil, Luvox, to put warnings on their labels about the risks of violent behavior and suicidal thoughts in some patients.

Why is the FDA doing nothing to protect the American public by requiring a similar warning? Why is the American Government encouraging the recruitment of children into experiments which expose them to these drugs and other powerful psychotropic drugs? Are Federal agencies--including the FDA and NIH--in partnership with the pharmaceutical industry? I that why they are putting the interests of business and stock prices ahead of the welfare of children?

Americans should not have to learn about the trigger effect of these drugs in some patients from news reports AFTER tragedies have occurred. Indeed, a U.S. jury awarded $6.4 million last month to the family of Donald Schell which decided that Paxil was largely to blame for the behavior of Schell. After he took the drug, he shot his wife, daughter and nine- month-old granddaughter to death, then killed himself.
