President’s
Message by Diana Wickowicz I want to take this time to introduce myself as your new
president. I am an RN and a
Marriage Family Therapist in private practice. I also have a daughter with
severe Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I
thought I could study and work with mental disorders and I would learn
everything I needed to know. Not!!! I get to embrace the gift of my own personal
"practicum". A whole
different dimension that we all know too well.
Well, I'm here with the enhanced sensitivity and concern that we all
share regarding mental illness. I
come with much enthusiasm and energy to contribute to the board. We have a
number of new members. They share one thing in common - an attitude of joy,
energy, and enthusiasm. As your energized board for the new century, we are uniting
as a team. Our goals are to be MORE
relevant to you and your problems. We
want to be MORE available to the community, and to provide MORE education around
local resources and opportunities and needs. We certainly invite you to join us with as much involvement
as you choose - from individual activities to committee members.
We all want to enhance the quality of life for family members as well as
their support team, US.
I am only one, but still I am
one. I cannot do everything, but I can still do something. I will not refuse to do the
something I can do. Helen Keller |
