Volunteer Opportunities

Provide Showers to Unhoused Community Members
Day / Time: Saturday, July 18th from 11:45am - 3:00pm

Location: Resurrection Catholic Church

The Aptos United Methodist Church is looking for young, healthy volunteers who will be diligent in masking and using health precautions to help with providing portable showers to the homeless population. Volunteers will help sign folks up, calling them when it's their turn, handing them a towel, then wiping down the shower after each use. 
Additionally, about 10 lightweight bath towels are needed. 

Support Unhoused Community Members at Shelters
Days / Time: Every Day from 6am - 10pm, shifts are 4-hours. 

​Location: Downtown Santa Cruz and Watsonville

Volunteers are needed to support the day-to-day operations of new, emergency shelters in Santa Cruz and Watsonville.
Tasks include checking-in participants; food service; monitoring common areas, assisting staff with day-to-day operations; notifying supervisors of emerging needs.
Volunteers will maintain social distancing of 6 feet and be provided with all necessary personal protective equipment. Volunteers who have interpersonal skills and are able to listen without judgment are especially needed in this role.

El Dorado Center, a local community-based short-term treatment program for individuals with mental health conditions, is in need of cloth masks for their clients.
